Qualifications

I have been involved in therapy for thirty five years, initially, having introductory work in the USA and then I gained a Diploma from the University of Aston in 1973. Since that time I have followed two main qualification routes:

1. Courses and diplomas on particular techniques and theories
2. Becoming a Chartered Psychologist by adding another degree and Diploma.

This makes me now:

  • Registered Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapist
  • Registered Personal Construct Therapist
  • Chartered Psychologist (Counselling)
  • Rational Emotive behaviour Therapist
  • Multi Modal Therapist
  • Trained in EMDR [Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re Processing]

You can read about such people on the main sites that they have and you can also find registers on these sites which mention myself and list colleagues. There are links there to sites of interest in the field.

My experience after first qualifying was in addiction and then I went to a higher education institution. Since 1985, I have had, as an adjunct to college work, experience of working as an independent practitioner.

It is still the same today. I work for some of the week as a lecturer - adjunct professor (American title) for the University of Syracuse Abroad and the rest of the time I research and see people. My main aim is to provide a facility which is tailored to meet the consulting needs of people with varied lives.
